4.5 out of 5, that's how well the Motorola Droid RAZR on Verizon did in our review demonstrating that there is raw power under the Gorilla Glass and Kevlar hood. The phone is shipping with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread but, given the recent Google-Motorola deal, you can easily predict it will get Ice Cream Sandwich soon. However, the Gingerbread source code has been made available online and the community can get their hands dirty on tearing this apart and even improving bits in future customROMs for the performance or customization-hungry among you!

What might be a new Nokia Windows Phone device, possibly codenamed Champagne, wasrecently identified from its presence in some log files. It self-reported as running build 7.10.8711 of the operating system, which we understand to be an in-development version of the Windows PhoneTango update. We still have plenty questions about both that handset and the Tango update, but it looks like 8711 is already behind the times, with evidence of 8713 appearing for the first time. News of 8713 comes courtesy of the WP Bench logs. It's anyone's guess what's changed since 8711, but we still like to keep on top of the progress being made, despite largely being in the dark as to the details. Some rumors we've heard about Tango in general say we're looking at the platform finally gaining support for phones with LTE radios. We also expect to see Microsoft reveal some new device standards, using lower-end hardware to allow for the production of more affordable WP7 handsets. Tango will also mark the first update produced with Nokia having input from the get-go, and we expect it to continue with a high level of involvement from here on out. Mostly, though, we're just waiting for the next big leak to help finish painting our picture of Tango.

As 2012 looms on the horizon, we've been keeping a lookout for the arrival of RIM's BlackBerry QNX platform, BBX. Perhaps even more so than changes happening to the operating system itself, people are interested in what the next generation of BlackBerry hardware will look like. We recentlytalked about maintaining the aspect ratio and screen resolution of the PlayBook, making us concerned about the fate of hardware keyboards. Today, an image has surfaced that may offer us our first look at a launch BBX device. For all of you who thought the Porsche Design BlackBerry was one ugly handset, we've got some bad news for you, because that style may not end up a one-time deal. Maybe it's a little less objectionable without the keyboard, but there's little denying that this BlackBerry is using the same design cues as the Porsche model. What we don't know yet is if we'll see this look start to dominate the BlackBerry lineup, but it's a possibility. The model in question today is know by codename London. It will supposedly be powered by a 1.5GHz TI dual-core processor, have a gigabyte of RAM, feature an eight-megapixel main camera (two-megapixel front-facer), and include 16GB of internal storage. As photographed here, the London was supposedly a dummy model, perhaps without even a functioning screen, so what we're seeing displayed could easily be a UI mock-up rather than revealing how BBX will ultimately appear.

Some users are still having issues with poor battery life even after installing the latest iOS 5.0.1 which was supposed to fix battery drains. Even more, certain iPhone 4S owners are reporting worse battery life than before the update. However, according to some lab tests, the battery issues on the latest Apple-phone are not hardware related. Restoring a backup from a device havingbattery problems to a similar device that runs fine and vice versa proves that the problem can be "ported" to another device (and the one with the problem can be fixed). This means that the battery problems are not due to hardware but indeed are caused by software. You can read more about the setup by following the source link.
