As 2012 looms on the horizon, we've been keeping a lookout for the arrival of RIM's BlackBerry QNX platform, BBX. Perhaps even more so than changes happening to the operating system itself, people are interested in what the next generation of BlackBerry hardware will look like. We recentlytalked about maintaining the aspect ratio and screen resolution of the PlayBook, making us concerned about the fate of hardware keyboards. Today, an image has surfaced that may offer us our first look at a launch BBX device.
For all of you who thought the Porsche Design BlackBerry was one ugly handset, we've got some bad news for you, because that style may not end up a one-time deal. Maybe it's a little less objectionable without the keyboard, but there's little denying that this BlackBerry is using the same design cues as the Porsche model. What we don't know yet is if we'll see this look start to dominate the BlackBerry lineup, but it's a possibility.
The model in question today is know by codename London. It will supposedly be powered by a 1.5GHz TI dual-core processor, have a gigabyte of RAM, feature an eight-megapixel main camera (two-megapixel front-facer), and include 16GB of internal storage.
As photographed here, the London was supposedly a dummy model, perhaps without even a functioning screen, so what we're seeing displayed could easily be a UI mock-up rather than revealing how BBX will ultimately appear.
