iOS 4.3.4 Already Gets Tethered Jailbreak On iPhone

It's only been a couple of hours since Applepushed out its iOS version 4.3.4 update that fixed the PDF security vulnerability which enabledJailbreakMe.com to work and the mobile platform has already been jailbroken.

This is a tethered jailbreak, which means that every time your iPhone reboots you will have to apply the jailbreak again. Nevertheless, a tethered solution is better than no solution at all and the good thing is that the tool used allows you to preserve your iPhone’s baseband. If you can't live without a jailbreak and must set your Apple-phone free, follow the source link for a detailed tutorial on how to achieve that.

Apple Orders 15 Million iPhone 5s From Pegatron For September

Let the rumor rumble begin. Digitimes, who's famous for landing lots of the very accurate scoops on what's going down in the iPhone supplier factories has recently learned that Apple has just ordered 15 million iPhone 5s (or it could be iPhone 4S) from their Taiwanese supplier Pegatron. Sadly it seems that this will be more of an iPhone 4S with no significant design changes from the iPhone 4.

According to the report:
Taiwan-based notebook maker Pegatron Technology is estimated to have landed orders for 15 million iPhone 5s (iPhone 4S) from Apple and is set to start shipping in September of 2011, according to sources from upstream component makers. In response, Pegatron declined to comment about its cooperation with clients.

Now, what makes this interesting is that we all know that Pegatron was in charge of manufacturing only the CDMA version of the iPhone 4 that currently runs on Verizon. We also know that Foxconn is alsopreparing their teams for a September release with undisclosed orders of the device on the other hand, so this could mean either of two things:

1. That Apple is preparing to sell as many as 30 Million iPhones in a specific period of time between both suppliers
2. That next Generation iPhone could probably still be a device that's limited to a specific technology like GSM or CDMA, for example

We all know that the Verizon iPhone was fit from day one to handle GSM just as much as it handles CDMA, which would leave assumption 2 without any water to survive, but the other idea of selling as many as 30 Million iPhones also seems pretentious. This must either be a revolutionary product all the way, or Foxconn isn't getting as many orders as Pegatron is.

HTC EVO 4G Update To Fix Broken Netflix

Hot on the heels of learning about an upcoming HTC EVO Shift 4G Gingerbread update, thanks to a tipster leaking an internal Sprint document, we're getting even more news about the EVO family. That same tipster has revealed a second document, this one discussing an upcoming software release for the original EVO 4G that should finally fix the recently-introduced Netflix incompatibility.

When the EVO 4G got Gingerbread of its own back at the beginning of June, along with fixing numerous bugs the update introduced one of its own, causing the smartphone to lose its ability to stream TV and movies through Netflix. The combination of a big 4.3-inch screen and a kickstand had made the EVO 4G a natural for that kind of usage, so breaking Netflix was a real problem.

As of June 20, users will start receiving notifications that system software 4.24.651.1 is available for OTA download. If you don't get a message straight away, you'll always be able to manually check for the update. While the Netflix fix is going to be the only thing most of you are interested in, the release will also spruce up the visual voicemail indicator and fix a bug wherein you could lose the ability to manage hearing aid settings.

HTC EVO Shift 4G Tipped for June 17 Gingerbread Update

About a month back, a leaked copy of a Gingerbread ROM for HTC's EVO Shift 4G on Sprint was released. Now it looks like that code's nearly ready to be distributed to the masses, with an internal Sprint document showing the start of Shift 4G Gingerbread availability kicking-off on June 17.

Supposedly, as of June 17 you'll be able to check for an update from your Shift 4G, and retrieve and install what will be system software 2.76.651.4. Now, if the 17th rolls around and this Gingerbread update slips your mind, starting on June 20, Sprint will start proactively notifying EVO Shift 4G users that an update to their phones is now available.

Beyond all the standard Gingerbread goodness that's old-hat by now, the Shift 4G's update will include Swype, a downloads manager, and is supposed to fix some problems that could occur when trying to play streaming media.

The QWERTY-less EVO 4G got a Gingerbread update of its own at the beginning of June.
