Everything about the Nokia N9 speaks of quality, that premium feel which you're used to when holding (not only) high-end devices made by the Finnish manufacturer based in Espoo.
After the unboxing we're looking at the hardware on the Nokia N9. It sports a 3.9-inch curved glass AMOLED display of FWVGA resolution (854 x 480 pixels), and it's powered by a Texas Instruments OMAP3630 1GHz CPU aided by a PowerVR SGX530 GPU. There's 1GB RAM on board as well as either 16GB or 64GB of internal storage. Ourunit has 16GB of storage.
The device is made out of a single piece of plastic with a unibody design. It feels premium and the curved Gorilla glass on the front, plus the tapered shape, gives it a unique look which makes the Nokia N9 one of the most beautiful smartphones on the market at the moment.
If you've managed to use Beats by Dr. Dre on any of the new HTC phones in the line-up and you liked it or you're just curious to see what the fuss is all about, you can now have it on your Sense 3.0 and above phone.
The package was built for a custom EVO 3D ROM but it should work on any HTC device running Android with HTC Sense 3.0 or 3.5 on top of it. The software is available in a flashable ZIP form but make sure you have a full backup handy just in case it doesn't work for you and it messes things up (insert usual disclaimer here: flashing you phone voids warranty and can render it useless). If you still want to give it a try, check out the bit over at the source link.
What's a semi-tethered jailbreak? We all know that a tethered jailbreak needs access to a computer in order to reapply after a reboot and that the untethered one is persistent. A semi-tethered jailbreak is a new concept which somehow sits in between the two above.
Say you're out and about but your beloved iOS 5 device is power cycling (for whatever reason). If you were running a tethered jailbreak you'd be wishing your computer was close in order to get you passed that Apple logo. With the semi-tethered jailbreak you phone will start normally and it will be able to do basic tasks like making a phone call, sending a text, using built-in applications and so on. On the down side you're not going to be able to use Safari to surf the internet or use the mailapplication. Sounds like an excellent choice until that untethered solutions is available. Adding to the negatives: the phone will take longer to boot.
To read more about what you can and what you can't do with a semi-tethered jailbreak, hit up the sourcelink below. Note that you have to be already jailbroken (tethered) to apply the semi-tethered jailbreak!
Three days to go until Nokia's World event starts on October 26, 2011. The eyes of the world are once again on Espoo as it will show off "a bunch" of Windows Phones according to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.
The Nokia 800 dubbed SeaRay should definitely be among the phones to be unveiled and, after seeing official press renders and even ads, we now get the chance to see a TV commercial. To be quite fair, it's not a commercial but a teaser where you can see the colored tiles featured in the ads, the N9-like casing but if you look close you'll see the capacitive Back and Start button at the bottom of the phone, as well as the repositioned flash at the back of the phone. Three more days everyone!
