Verizon HTC Rezound Caught On Camera (Video)

Another day, another HTC Rezound leak: if yesterday we were happy to let you know thatVerizon-store ads are featuring the phone, today we are happy to see the HTC Rezound caught oncamera in the video below, to complement all the leaked pictures we've already seen.

The specs seem to be pretty much confirmed (but not officially) with the phone packing a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4.3-inch display with 720p resolution, 16GB of internal storage plus the HTC-Dropbox 5GB additional cloud storage. The device captured below seems to be either a pre-production model or a prototype as theSensation XE-like red buttons seem to be missing (instead they're just plain white). On the other hand, you have plenty of red under the batterycover. Check out that Beats boot screen and the red Droid-like camera ring!

Nokia Maps Coming Soon For Free To Any Windows Phone

In February when Nokia announced the adoption of Windows Phone as its smartphone platform of choice and principal strategy, among other things, we've heard that Nokia Maps will integrate with Microsoft Bing and become core part of Microsoft’s mapping services. We also heard that WindowsPhones manufactured by other than Nokia OEMs will benefit from Espoo's Maps offering.

According to recent reports, Nokia Maps will be soon available for free in the Windows Phone Marketplace. Do not confuse this with Nokia Drive, which is a free voice-guided turn-by-turn 3D navigation Nokia offers for free only for its own Windows Phones.

Nokia Maps is pretty much like Bing Maps or Google Maps but using Nokia's own mapping data (actually NAVTEQ) which seems to be more user-friendly and detailed for those countries and regions (like Europe and some more) where Bing isn't that much detailed.

Given that there already was a placeholder uploaded for Nokia Maps in the Marketplace at the beginning of October, the application shouldn't be that far out, offering a nice alternative to the stock Bing-powered Maps.

Toshiba Tsunagi TG01 Receives Windows Phone 7 Port

It's been just about a year since we first saw the Toshiba TG01 Tsunagi running Windows Phone 7. Then, right at the start of this past summer, videosurfaced actually showing the operating system running on Tsunagi hardware. Now, the tireless efforts of developers have led to the release of a working, unofficial copy of WP7 for the aging smartphone.

The Tsunagi arrived running Windows Mobile 6.1. With a 1GHz Snapdragon and only 256MB of RAM, it's just barely up to muster as WP7 device, but worked well enough to see its adoption as a Windows Phone development platform. It's been clear that WP7 works on the handset; it's just been a question of seeing the code released.

As should be no surprise, leave it to the tireless folks who hang out at the XDA-Developers forums to come out with a solution. The release from developer Nokser is based on an older 7510 build of WP7, and supports both Toshiba TG01 and T01A hardware. The good news is that it's running, but it's not without its faults. Apparently battery charging is painfully slow, the camera doesn't work, there are some storage issues, and cellular signal strength takes a nose-dive. Despite these setbacks, work continues on ironing out the bugs and turning this Tsunagi into one hopefully stable enough for daily use.

SE Xperia Android 2.3.4 Updates Entering Global Availability

Sony Ericsson may be putting the Xperia X10 out to pasture when it comes to providing softwareupdates, but luckily there are plenty of other Xperia models that continue to live on. The company has been talking about its plans for bringing Android 2.3.4 to the lineup for months, and we first started to hear about models beginning to receive the software back in September. Sony Ericsson has now announced that it's moving past a limited, regional distribution, and is beginning a global push to bring that latest software to the Xperia Arc, Play, Neo, Mini, Mini Pro, Pro, Ray, Active, Neo V, Arc S and the Live with Walkman.

We've already talked about some of the features included in these upgrades when looking at the earlier, limited release, and there's a lot more present than just Android 2.3.4. Probably the most prominent part is the new version of Facebook inside Xperia, tightening-up integration with the social network.

One technologically impressive addition is the new 3D sweep panorama camera mode. This lets you generate 3D images using your phone's standard 2D camera. It works just like taking a 2D panoramic picture, where you wave your phone in front of the subject, but takes advantage of that motion to get pictures of the subject from multiple angles, combining them for a 3D effect. Of course, you'll need to hook your phone up to a 3D TV if you ever want to actually see the fruits of your labor in full 3D. The Xperia Play, sadly, is the one outlier not receiving the 3D panorama feature.

Sony Ericsson hasn't provided any estimates on who will be getting what updates, when, suffice to say that operators around the globe now have access to the releases. If you have one of the support handsets, be on the lookout for your update to arrive soon.
