Apple Store App Adds New Tools For Shopping & Support

Apple's celebrating the tenth anniversary of its retail stores by giving them a facelift, replacing much of the printed signage in the store with interactive iPad 2 displays. To go along with the new, more modern look for its stores, Apple has updated its Apple Store iOS app to version 1.3, adding some new features to help you get the most out of your Apple shopping experience.

First up, the app now has a custom-built Mac feature, letting you configure the perfect computer for your needs. You'll see a list of available options, complete with pricing info, and you can select as many or as few as you'd like in order to create just the right computer.

The other big addition to the app should help make trips to an Apple Store retail location a little more convenient, giving you the ability to page store employees for assistance. You can see real-time stats, like how many other customers are waiting in line ahead of you for help. Once you put your name in the queue and reach the front of the list, you'll receive a notification that help's finally available, showing you the employee's picture and telling you where in the store you can go to meet him or her.

If you're planning an Apple Store trip soon, make sure to load the latest version of this app, available now in the App Store.
