Motorola Handset at FCC May Be Droid 3 Global

The FCC filings continue to roll in today, with the latest to hit our radar an entry from Motorola. Though there's very little present that assists us in identifying the phone, there are some hints that we could be looking at the Droid 3 Global. 

The first thing we noticed about this Motorola was the glut of cellular bands available to it. The FCC documentation lists 800 and 1900MHz CDMA bands, 800 and 1900MHz EV-DO, quad-band GSM, and 850, 1900, and 2100MHz WCDMA. Notes attest that the phone's firmware will ship with all the GSM and WCDMA bits disabled. This collection of bands, with the CDMA modes getting top billing, matches what we saw when Motorola released the Droid 2 Global. 

Of all the specs we've heard so far regarding the Droid 3, there doesn't seem much talk about its radio. The Milestone 3 will be GSM/WCDMA, but could Motorola skip the CDMA-only Droid 3 and go straight to a Droid 3 Global? We wonder about that locked firmware: would that be just to keep users from buying the phone and fleeing Verizon for AT&T, or could the carrier release the same hardware with different firmware at some point in the future and call it the Droid 3 Global?
