Motorola Droid Bionic Hardware Tour (Video)

Motorola Droid Bionic Hardware Tour (Video)
The latest and greatest from Motorola and Verizon is the Droid Bionic. With its wedge-shaped chassis encasing some very high-end hardware, this is the smartphone the others are all envious of.

In this video we'll take a look at the insides of this phone, and the exterior hardware.

The first thing you'll notice about the MotorolaDroid Bionic is that the battery cover isn't attached right out of the box. In fact, the panel itself is stored in its own zippered bag, separate from the phone. The battery also is not installed, nor is the LTE SIM card.

Installing the LTE SIM is a little tricky, it's tucked neatly under the pre-installed 16GB Class 4 microsdhc card. Just line up the SIM according to the diagram and wiggle it in. Removing the SIM is somewhat difficult, but you likely won't need to remove your SIM, so that's not a problem.

After you've installed your SIM, installing the battery and back cover are very easy.

The buttons on the front-screen are capacitive and in the traditional Motorola layout: Menu, Home, Back, and Search. They are very responsive and work every bit as well as the "physical" buttons on other smartphones.

The power button is on the top left, which is opposite that of many other Android phones, on the opposite side is the headset jack. The volume rocker is on the top of the right side, designed to be under the index finger of right-handed users. It's also on the opposite side of the microUSB and HDMI ports, so you won't accidentally mess up your audio volume while watching video on the beautiful, enormous screen.

The camera is a 8MP (6MP widescreen) still camera with full 1080p HD recording capabilities and single LED flash.

There is no dedicated camera button, nor is there a scroll-wheel or
scroll-pad like earlier Androids had, but niether of those have proven to be an issue.

In an upcoming video we'll take a closer look at the software, and we'll take a look its 1080p video camera capabilities.
