Sprint LG Optimus S Finally Gets a Taste Of Gingerbread

Earlier this summer, we saw LG start distributing long-awaited Gingerbread updates to the Optimus One, first to limited geographic regions beforeexpanding its availability. Months later, some are still waiting for their chance to make the leap to Android 2.3; the latest group to get the nod for Gingerbread is that of Sprint users with the LG Optimus S.

Sprint has announced that system software LS670ZVH is on its way to bring Gingerbread to the Optimus One-series phone. Like any good Gingerbread update, we can see an assortment of device-specific remedies packed alongside the standard list of improvements. These include little things like making sure volume control works properly when using Bluetooth, and gaining the ability to initiate a three-way call in some areas the phone couldn't before.

This is the first update for the phone to arrive since a minor one came out back in March. Sprint is sending out in stages, and assuming nothing goes wrong and forces it to halt distribution, it should hit nearly every subscriber with an Optimus S within about ten days. For full details on the update, as well as installation instructions, check out the phone's support page in Sprint's community forum.
