Android Honeycomb 3.1: what’s new

Google announced Honeycomb 3.1 at the I/O conference, the update is rolling out to tablets.

During the Google I/O conference that happened this week in San Francisco, Google unveiled an upgrade to its tablet-focused Android version that we all know as Honeycomb. With this update Android Honeycomb reaches version 3.1 and adds some important new features. Let’s see them in detail:

The only visual improvement is about resizable widgets, which now won’t have a fixed measure but can be stretchable horizontally and vertically to the desired size.
With Android 3.1 tablets can act as USB Hosts, so the USB ports present on several slates can finally be used to connect a stick, a camera, and even communication periferics as keyboards, mice and game controllers.
There is also an improved Task Manager and the applications for Music Beta and Movies. The update has already rolled out to the Verizon’s Motorola Xoom, and is soon going to be released to all the other tablets running Honeycomb.
