LG Explains Release Schedule For Optimus 2X Stability Update

LG posted on Facebook earlier this week about an upcoming patch for its dual-core Optimus 2X. While there's some media player tweaks to look forward to, the big draw, at least for users who have found themselves affected, is the promised fixes for the seemingly random freezes and resets plaguing the smartphone. LG has since offered a little more detail into its plans, letting us know when users in different areas can expect the update to arrive.

Initially, all we knew is that the first wave of the update would occur quite soon, "starting mid to end of May". Engadget recently got the chance to talk to company representatives, who have since clarified what will happen. The first group of Optimus 2X owners to receive the update will be those in Europe, and that will be taking place sometime before the end of this week.

The details of when North American users will get their update are less concrete, but LG says that release will be hot on the heels of the European distribution. Most of this will take place via OTA updates, but that's not necessarily a given for all users. There hasn't been any word from T-Mobile yet if it is planning to distribute a similar update for its subscribers using a G2X.
