When we first reviewed HTC's HD7, we were more or less pleased with the smartphone. We loved the big screen, the only of its kind for Windows Phone 7, but at the time we still weren't completely sold on the software. Since then, NoDo's arrived finally giving us the copy-and-paste we were hoping for, and that nice, big screen is about to get even better, upgrading to a Super LCD model with the release of the HD7S on AT&T. Announced two months ago, the carrier is now ready to set a release date, revealing that HD7S sales will begin on June 5, with the phone costing just under $200 on-contract.
The upgrade from a standard LCD to a Super LCD screen means that you should find AT&T's phone to have a sharper, easier-to-read display when compared to the HD7 now available on T-Mobile. Other that than manufacturing change, and support for different 3G frequencies, we're looking at the same phone here. That's not to say that the HD7S should be underwhelming, as it will still have the largest screen available from a Windows Phone 7 smartphone on AT&T. It may be a little late to the table, with new WP7devices shipping with Mango on the horizon, but it's still a welcome addition to AT&T's stable.
