T-Mobile Bold 9900 Airs Today For Business, Aug.31st For Everyone

After a long awaited official confirmation, T-Mobile has finally spilled the beans on a Press Release where they launch the BlackBerry Bold 9900. It'll be available for exclusive pre-sale to all T-Mobile business customers, and as expected, nationwide on August 31st for the rest of us mortals.

The new BlackBerry Bold 9900 intends to become a true mobile solution for business customers and consumers a like, but we're still having a hard time understanding that price tag. $299.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate card and a two year contract is steeper than all the other premium smartphone offerings in the market. Verizon is selling the same device for $250 and there's no doubt it's still expensive when compared to much better sellers like the iPhone 4 or every HTC and Samsung device sold on either carrier. Surely it is T-Mobile's first ever 4G BlackBerry, but the browser capabilities on the BlackBerry 7 OS are far from proving worthy of being a feature worth paying an extra premium. No word on NFC just yet, but we'll be looking out for that.

Hopefully, RIM's idea of making the device as exclusive and desirable as possible won't backfire on them. I must admit I do have interest for it, but I'd rather wait for them to drop the price after slow sales, then to buy it right now.
