Google Maps 5.5 Gets New Latitude Integration, Transit Info

Google just released a small update to Google Maps for Android, adding a couple new features for users of Google Latitude, and improving the information available about mass transit stations.

Google Maps 5.5 now adds some new options to its place pages, which you pull up when investigating a destination you're interested in. One button will allow you to easily check-in to the location through GoogleLatitude. The other addition provides a shortcut to rating an establishment after your visit, and giving you the opportunity to write up a review. More Latitude-based improvements await you in the location history dashboard, where you'll now be able to edit your home and work addresses, used to generate statistics of where you spend your time.

Commuters will love the expanded information on transit stations. Pulling up the place page for a station will now show a list of upcoming departures, as well as general information including which routes are serviced and the locations of other stations in the area.

Google Maps 5.5 is available in the Android Market now.
