Nokia confirms Windows Phones coming out with Qualcomm chipset and Mango OS

In two separate notes some detail about the forthcoming device, expected before the end of 2011.

Yesterday Microsoft officially launched the new Mango OS, and it was easy to imagine that the first Windows Phones to be released by Nokia would have used this latest update, as the company just confirmed. More interesting is the information that gives first details about the hardware to run the Microsoft OS.
In fact, while a few days ago some rumors wanted Nokia to adopt ST-Ericsson processors for its first Windows Phones, in an interview with Reuters a spokeperson for the Finnish company admits they were in talk with STMicroelectronics, but the choice for the first devices was rather for Qualcomm.
“The first Nokias based on Windows Phone will have the Qualcomm chipset. Our aim is to build a vibrant ecosystem around Nokia and the Windows Phone OS and with that intent we are naturally continuing discussions with a number of chipset suppliers for our future product portfolio”.
Qualcomm already drives some of the most powerful Android devices, so this is a very good result for the processors maker.
