Official: HTC will no longer lock bootloaders

Taiwanese High Tech Computer proves they’re listening to their users and change bootloader policy.

Yesterday we reported that HTC published on its official Facebook page a note in which they announced they were reconsidering the bootloader policy, saying that more information would be provided soon. And today we are happy to report that Peter Chou in person spoke about the topic, again on the company’s Facebook page.
“There has been overwhelmingly customer feedback that people want access to open bootloaders on HTC phones. I want you to know that we’ve listened. Today, I’m confirming we will no longer be locking the bootloaders on our devices. Thanks for your passion, support and patience”
HTC’s founder and CEO words are pretty clear and definitely made the developers and hackers communities happy, proving once again that HTC grows (they sold 9 million smartphones in 1Q11 only) but keeps staying close to its users.
