Motorola Announces Droid X Gingerbread Update, Details Changes

We've recently heard that Motorola confirmed the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Droid X among others, and now Verizon is publishing the changelog and benefits of updating your smartphone to Google's lastest.

The update is called 4.5.596.MB810.Verizon.en.US and, aside from the Gingerbread bit, brings several improvements to the Droid X. There's a new app added, Download Manager App, to manage all of your downloads from web browsing, email attachments and other apps. Multi-Touch Key-Chording allows you to enter numbers and symbols with keyboard shortcut combos, instead of having to change to the numeric keyboard mode.

There are new widgets, icons and screens with refreshed colors, Dock Icons, App Groups, improvements for Camera, Calendar, E-mail, and many more. For a complete list of changes, consult the documents by following the source link. Verizon publishing these documents means the update should soon be roll-out so expect that update notification any day now!
