ZTE Brings First LTE To U.S. H2 2010, First WP7 Mango In 2012

China's second smartphone manufacturer, alongside Huawei, ZTE has been announced as a hardware partner for Windows Phone together with Acer and Fujitsu, joining the already existing ones represented by HTC, Samsung and LG -- Dell looks to be out.

ZTE's U.S. CEO Cheng Lixin told Reuters that the company is planning on releasing its first LTE-enabled smartphone in the US in the second half of this year. Talking about Windows Phone, the Americans will be able to grab a ZTE Windows Phone only next year while Europe will see them the second half of this year.

"Phone carriers in the U.S. have expressed a lot of interest and we've said that we'll support Mango. We'll likely see Mango smartphones early next year", Cheng Lixin said. ZTE is manufacturing Android powered smartphones as well, and overall global shipment numbers are looking good, just behind Nokia, Samsung and LG, according to IDC.
